A literary voice from Kamber, Sindh, now writing between two languages and two countries.
Abbas Korejo is one of the most distinguished literary voices emerging from Sindh, Pakistan. Born in the historic town of Kamber, his pen has traversed cultures and continents — channelling the rich oral traditions of Sindhi literature into contemporary short fiction and critical research.
A prolific author in both Sindhi and English, Abbas has authored 10 books spanning short story collections, literary research and critical theory. His work "Our Own Earth" was honoured as the Best Book of the Year 2014 by the Sindhi Language Authority. His novel The Tree was nominated by the prestigious Sharjah International Book Fair, and multiple books have been launched in Dubai and at major literary festivals.
Holding master’s degrees in Sindhi Literature and Economics, and a Silver and Gold Medallist in M.A. Sindhi Literature from the University of Sindh, Abbas is also a passionate cultural activist, entrepreneur, graphic designer, editor and community organiser — founding events and organisations that keep Sindhi heritage alive globally. The UAE government awarded him the Golden Visa in recognition of his outstanding literary achievements.
Beyond his literary work, Abbas is the founder of four business ventures across the UAE and Pakistan, co-founder of Sambara Events, and founder of the Jeejal Amar Trust in memory of his mother.
Abbas has spoken at the Sindh Literature Festival in Karachi, at the Sindhi Association of North America (SANA), and at public forums calling for national-language status for Sindhi. His work has been the subject of critical essays, book reviews and research articles, and he is profiled in Encyclopedia Sindhiana and on Wikipedia. Read more in Press.
